About this program

The Co-operative Education Incentive provides Nova Scotia employers with a wage subsidy of $8/hour ($9.50/hour for students from designated diversity groups) to hire post-secondary co-op students for 12–16 week work terms. Students must work at least 390 hours, and the program reimburses up to 640 hours of wages. Eligible employers include private-sector businesses, non-profits, charities, social enterprises, and municipalities hiring students enrolled in a Nova Scotia university or college co-op program.
